Please turn off all A/C's when not inside

The A/C units cool very quickly! When the AC is running, please make sure that all windows, and doors are closed in that room.   We’ve found that 24 degrees is the perfect cooling temperature. Please DO NOT turn the A/C below 22 degrees as his may cause A/C units to freeze up, leak water and stop working.  You will be charged for service if this is found to be the cause.

Check In / Check Out

Check In is at 3pm and Check Out is at 10am.  If you require an early check in or late check out, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you and your group.

No Smoking

Smoking is strictly prohibited. Please be aware of the associated danger of fire during dry season. Any extra cleaning charge of $500 will occur if, upon checkout, the house smells of cigarette smoke.

Visitors / Events / Noise

No events, parties or large gatherings are allowed without prior consent from Grande Vacation Rentals. Never exceed the maximum allowed sleeping capacity of the home. Uauthorized guests are not permitted to stay overnight in the house and must leave by 10pm. Please also be mindful of neighbors and keep noise to a minimum, noting that quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am.

Health & Safety

  • While the community of Playa Grande is generally safe, please remember that ‘common sense rules’ apply. Don’t leave your brain on the plane. Please lock all the doors and windows when not at the house and put valuables out of sight. Never leave anything of value in your car when at the beach. We also recommend using the alarm and placing passports and other valuables in the safe.
  • There are many “professional friends” who look to meet up with visitor and offer services, want to hangout and ask where you are staying, etc., Never invite people you randomly meet to come to the house. They may seem nice, and many are, but don’t take the chance of waking up missing your electronics, money, or passport.
  • There are safes throughout the property for your personal use. We recommend that cash, passports, and other valuables be placed in the safe. Grande Vacation Rentals, LLC and the owner are not responsible for theft or robbery on the premises.
  • Mosquitoes tend to come out at dawn and dusk. Repellant is recommended.

  • Reusable shopping bags are available for your use.
  • Reusable food storage containers are in the kitchen. Consider using these instead of foil or plastic wrap/bags.
  • The whole house is equipped with a water filtration system and another filter for the refrigerator drinking water. The tap water is safe to drink so fill your water bottles and go! Remember that one plastic bottle can take hundreds of years to decompose, many include potentially harmful chemicals, and bottle production requires more water to produce than can actually be put into it for drinking.

The town of Playa Grande has been in a drought cycle for the past 5 years. It is imperative that we take water conservation seriously to ensure Playa Grande and all its residents have water throughout the year. Here are some tips on how you can help conserve water. We greatly appreciate your help!

Bathroom:

  • Take quick showers
  • Turn off the water while you are brushing your teeth or shaving
  • Don’t use the toilet as a waste basket. Every time the toilet flushes it uses gallons of water.
  • Do not deposit any feminine products, condoms, plastic bags, etc., in the toilet. There are small waste baskets in every bathroom for your convenience.

Laundry

  • Only towels left on the floor will be replaced
  • Bed sheets will be washed once a week unless laundering is requested.

Thank you for your understanding of how precious our natural resources can be.

This house can be cooled throughout the day by opening the front and back doors for cross ventilation. Opening the windows and using the fans while in the home will significantly reduce your need (or interest) in using the air conditioning.

Air Conditioning Guidelines:

  • We ask that when you leave the house, you turn off all air-conditioning.  When you return the mini-split units will cool all spaces very quickly.
  • When the AC is running, please make sure that all windows, and doors are closed in that room.   Closing the curtains will also help keep spaces cool.
  • At nighttime while sleeping in the bedrooms, please turn off living room AC units and in the daytime if not using the bedrooms, close the doors and turn off those units.
  • The temperature you see is in Celsius.  You should be comfortable with a setting around 24 degrees. Please DO NOT turn the A/C below 22 degrees.   This may cause A/C units to freeze up, leak water and stop working.  You will be charged for service if this is found to be the cause.
  • If the doors are open in the living room and/or dining room be sure to open the windows for a beautiful cross breeze. This will keep the house comfortable without AC.  If you prefer AC please close all windows and doors.

Clothes Dryer:

  • While the dryer is high efficiency, mother nature here is highly effective at drying any wet towels or swimwear. Consider setting things out vs drying inside.
Please help us conserve energy!

  • The nearest grocery store in Playa Grande is The Store (formerly known as Wil-Mart) located 1 mile away as you leave town. There is a mini-super next to Kike’s behind the public bus stop.
  • Most restaurants and shops will accept US Dollars and take major Credit Cards. Best to ask before ordering as some still do not.

When dining, please note that a 10% tip IS INCLUDED in the final bill, but most restaurants share this between staff at the end of the shift. If you would like to leave additional tip, that is acceptable and appreciated.

The nearest gas station is located 10 km away in the town of Huacas, so watch your gas gauge!

If you are driving, it is wise to carry a copy of your passport and leave your original in the available Safe. The copy of your passport should include your entry date stamp. You also need a valid license from your country. Do not pay the police to avoid a ticket unless it’s the only option.
