Marina, Fishing and Water Sports

Playa Flamingo is home to a full-service marina, a hub for yachts, catamarans, and sport-fishing boats. The area is renowned for inshore and offshore sport fishing, and the marina is the departure point for snorkeling trips, diving, catamaran sunset cruises, and dolphin-watching tours. It is an ideal base for travelers who want to spend time on the water, and our concierge team can book charters and tours before you arrive.

The Beach and Swimming

The beach at Playa Flamingo is about a mile of fine white sand curving around a gentle, protected bay. Because the crescent shape shelters the water, the sea here is usually calm and clear, which makes it ideal for swimming, families, and long beach days, in contrast to the stronger surf beaches nearby. The sunsets over the bay are consistently spectacular.

Getting to Playa Flamingo

Playa Flamingo is roughly a one to one-and-a-half hour drive from Liberia International Airport (LIR) on well-maintained roads. It sits north of Tamarindo and Brasilito, between Playa Potrero and Playa Brasilito on the stretch known as the Gold Coast. Rental cars and private transfers are the easiest way to arrive, and the flat, paved route makes for a straightforward drive. From Playa Grande, Flamingo is around 30 minutes to the north, and our concierge team can arrange your transfer in advance.

Dining and Nearby Beaches

Flamingo offers a polished selection of oceanfront and marina dining, from fresh seafood to international cuisine. The surrounding area is a beach-hoppers dream, with quieter Playa Potrero just to the north, the white sand of Playa Conchal a short drive south, and family-friendly Brasilito in between.
